About Ready Steady Transport Services
Ready Steady Transport Services is a non-emergency medical transportation provider serving the assisted transportation needs of seniors and those with mobility challenges throughout Santa Cruz and surrounding communities.  Destinations include area medical centers, hospital campuses, rehabilitation and skilled care facilities, and more.  Drivers will be charged with providing direct assistance to ambulatory, wheelchair, and non-emergency gurney patients.

We are dedicated to ensuring safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation for individuals with mobility challenges. We’re looking for motivated, caring, and reliable drivers to join our growing team and help us provide exceptional service to our passengers.

We are seeking full-time and part-time drivers.  Positions start at $18 per hour with the opportunity for advancement based on time and overall performance.  Prior experience is preferred, but not required.  All equipment, training, job-related tools, and instruction will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:
As an NEMT Driver, you will:

  • Transport mobility-challenged passengers safely and comfortably to medical appointments, hospital visits, and other destinations.
  • Provide door-through-door service, ensuring passengers’ safety and comfort at all times.
  • Operate a company vehicle efficiently, following safe driving practices and using mapping and dispatch apps.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your assigned vehicle to ensure it’s safe, clean, and ready for operation.
  • Communicate with passengers and team members, including the Operations Manager, Dispatcher, and facility administrators, to ensure smooth service.
  • Maintain 100% accuracy in documenting trips, pickups, drop-offs, and any incidents through company apps.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and follow all traffic laws, company policies, and procedures.

Job Requirements:
Required personal skills and abilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Physically fit to walk up and down stairs and directly assist seniors and bariatric clients.
  • Maintain a helpful and courteous attitude ideally suited for senior clientele.
  • Self-motivated but flexible attitude as warranted by the transportation industry.
  • Adapts to changing environments to include hospitals, nursing facilities, and residences.
  • Maintain patience during delays, schedule changes, and possible challenging situations.
  • Listen to and comply with instructions, company rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Operate effectively both independently and jointly with other company personnel.
  • Willingness to contribute as necessary to support the company’s overall mission.
  • Competent verbal and written English skills.

Various daily tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform pre-trip/post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections.
    Utilize mobile apps and telematics to assist in trip management and customer intake.
  • Safely transport and assist patients to their appointments in a timely manner.
  • Visit applicable facilities to introduce and discuss the benefits of utilizing our service.
  • Coordinate and inform company management of daily activities and outcomes.

Various credentialing requirements are as follows:

  • Must be 25 years of age or older.
  • Possess a valid California driver’s license.
  • Have a minimum high school diploma or GED.
  • Pass criminal background check and drug screening prior to hiring and annually.
  • Pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check at time of hire and throughout employment.
