Salary:
$50.00 per month
The Personnel Commission is the public body responsible for the administration of a “merit system” for the selection, retention, and promotion of classified (non-teaching) employees in a public school system. By law, it is composed of three members appointed for three-year terms, with the term of one member expiring each year.
In order to qualify, an applicant must be:
• A registered voter and reside within the PVUSD boundaries.
• Familiar with the merit system and must support the concepts of employment, employment retention, professional development, promotional opportunities, and other related matters on the basis of merit and fitness.
Personnel Commissioners have the following responsibilities:
• To cooperate with the governing board and administrators in the quest for competent employees and a sound plan of personnel administration;
• To represent the interests of the general public by providing a personnel system dedicated to hiring, retaining, and promoting competent workers in the service of the jurisdiction;
• To see that classified employees receive fair and equitable treatment; and
• To sit as an appeals board in matters of discipline, demotion, and dismissal of classified employees
